Carey Calder (she/her), MBA
Founder | Principal
Carey thrives on innovation and is driven to invest in meaningful projects that spark change initiatives, create social impact opportunities and result in positive successes that support community needs.
Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Carey has called Ottawa home since 2003. She is a proud 2Spirit Ojibwe woman who is a member of Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek (Sand Point First Nation).
With 20 years of experience within not-for-profit Indigenous organizations, including leadership and senior executive positions, Carey specializes in organizational development and strategic growth. She is a strong community advocate and supports progressive work environments that demonstrate best human resource management practices and that are reflected in policies, vision, planning and strategies.
Her proudest accomplishments include the development of national programming for Indigenous women, securing funding for local grassroots organizational expansion of revenues and capital building purchase of a "forever home" for core Indigenous children & family programs.
Jennifer St. Germain (she/her)
Indigenous Inclusion | Métis Advisory
Jennifer serves as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) with the Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) since 2017, where she has spent over 20 years of her career contributing to the advancement of Metis rights.
Jennifer is a well-respected leader who is committed to the advancement of the rights, interests, and aspirations of Métis families and communities throughout Ontario.
Jennifer provides guest lecturer and speaker presentations on Métis Nation policy, program, and governance issues. She holds a Master of Arts in Indigenous and Canadian Studies and plans to continue her Ph.D. pursuit in research including Métis public policy and administration, nation-building and contemporary governance in Ontario.
Gina Doxtator (she/her)
Associate | Facilitator
Gina Doxtator is a member of the Oneida Nation and an expert facilitator in community engagement with First Nation communities and industry focused on Indigenous issues. Her experience includes many years of national, regional, and local engagement with the Assembly of First Nations, Indigenous Services Canada, and other Indigenous organizations and NGOs.
Gina has direct experience, specifically with the Trauma-Informed Health and Cultural Support Program. She is passionate about creating culturally appropriate and safe spaces for dialogue and action between diverse stakeholders while balancing the complexities of issues, perspectives and realities.
Gina is the designated lead facilitator for the staff retreat session including upcoming design planning, activities, facilitation and follow-up summary reporting.
Marlene Kwandibens (she/her)
Associate | Facilitator
Marlene Kwandibens is an entrepreneurial Anishinaabe Kwe from Whitesand First Nation who transformed her passion for beading, technology, and facilitation into EmJayKay, with distinct businesses that she manages remotely, in her personal pledge
to reduce her impact on the world.
Marlene’s EmJayKay brand includes a Beading business, a Digital business, and an Instructive business. Marlene is an accomplished facilitator with a Social, IT, and Child Welfare focus who is at ease working with groups with hundreds of participants, to more intimate settings with small working groups of teams.
Marlene’s beadwork business started as a way of supplementing her financials and has grown into a recognized entity within the cultural realm. Marlene has also maintained an IT-focused learning throughout her professional life which led her to assist individuals and use her skills in the IT field.
Marlene’s Instructive endeavour brings cloud-based database functions to First Nation communities for specific program use. Marlene’s recent endeavour includes designing Planners and Journals for individual and professional use. Marlene’s passion for sharing knowledge and helping others is what keeps her grounded in her Anishinaabe way of being while delving into many areas of creativity and presentation.
Marlene leads workshop design, facilitation and engagement.
